Do not assume that an invoice-finance product has the same regulatory protections as a consumer loan. Equally, a bank being regulated for some activities does not establish the status of every commercial product it provides. Check the actual firm, agreement and complaint route.

Product status and firm status
Aldermore's published invoice-finance documents page states that its invoice finance lending to limited companies is not regulated by the FCA or PRA. That is a specific product statement. The wider regulatory position can depend on the structure and parties, so obtain a clear explanation for the proposed arrangement rather than generalising from a logo.
UK Finance's Standards Framework
UK Finance maintains an Invoice Finance and Asset-Based Lending Standards Framework for its IF/ABL members. It includes a code, independent oversight and an independent complaints process. Confirm current membership and the scope of the applicable process directly; do not assume every provider is covered.
Industry standards are useful information, but they do not replace the contract or make every dispute eligible for the same remedy. Review the published conditions and the firm's own complaint procedure before relying on a particular route.
Before you sign
- Ask which legal entity is providing the facility.
- Confirm whether the specific product is regulated and what protections apply.
- Request the complaints policy and any independent escalation route.
- Verify claimed memberships using the organisation's own directory or published information.
- Understand broker fees, introductions and any commission disclosures.
If a problem arises
Keep a written record of the issue, dates, amounts and the outcome sought. Raise it through the provider's formal complaint route and retain its response. If the response is unsatisfactory, check the eligibility and deadlines for the applicable independent process. Seek legal advice where contractual rights or enforcement are involved.
What this site does
InvoiceDiscounting.net publishes research and planning tools. It does not make lending decisions or promise an ombudsman outcome. Provider profiles link to official material so readers can verify current terms and complaint information for themselves. Editorial corrections can be sent through our contact route.
Sources and verification
